Dear prospective member:
The Amity A.C. Swimming Pool, built in 1962, is located off Amity Park Road on property owned by its parent organization, the Amity Athletic Club. This club established the pool and its Board of Directors establishes the policy. At present a pool committee, set-up by the Amity A.C., is responsible for the operation of the swimming pool and its related facilities.
We are a private pool, so each new family, couple or single person must purchase a $300 membership. This is a one-time purchase that is refundable in the future when you decide you no longer want to be a member. This membership can be purchased in full the first year or it can be split over the first two years with an additional $10 charge. In addition to the membership fee, annual dues must be paid before swimming privileges can be granted. As of 2007, the dues amount for a single person is $145, dues for a couple is $175 and $235 for a family. A family consists of two resident adults, their unmarried resident children under age 21 and resident children over 21 years of age who are still being educated (children under age 1 are free and senior citizen rates are also available).
So, for a new family to join the pool and purchase the full membership the first year, the cost will be $535 ($300 membership fee plus $235 annual dues). If you want to split the cost of the membership over the first two years, the first year cost will be $395 ($160 membership fee plus $235 annual dues). The following spring you will be billed for $385 ($150 membership fee plus $235 annual dues) to complete the membership agreement. Each year thereafter, you will only have to pay the annual dues.
The pool is open weekends and limited weekday hours starting Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Once school is out, the pool is open 7 days a week thru Labor Day from 12:00 noon until 8:00pm. We offer swimming lessons, support a league swim team and provide a range of special activities for all ages. Basketball and tennis courts are located on pool property along with picnic tables and a full snack bar.
At the present time, the membership is full and the names of prospective new members are being added to a waiting list. To be added to the waiting list, call, mail or email your name(s), nighttime phone number and a brief message stating you want to be added to the new member waiting list to the address below. We have a limited number of memberships available each year and they go on a first come first serve basis. The length of the waiting list can be quite long so there is no guarantee a membership will be available in the coming year. However, since the list continues from year to year, your name will be higher on the list for next year.
